CITYWEST UNVEILS MAJOR NEW RETAIL OFFERING

Davy Hickey Properties is set to unveil a new 14,000 sq.m shopping centre which will be anchored by a 6,700 sq.m Dunnes Stores supermarket and department store together with fashion, sports, pharmacy, books, jewellery and a choice of restaurants.  Citywest Shopping Centre will officially open its doors on Thursday 13th September.  The centre will create approximately 500 jobs.

The shopping centre is located in a currently under-served retail market, in an area which is undergoing major growth in the employment and residential sectors.  It will include 32 shops, 8 offices, residential units and 600 free car parking spaces. The centre will also benefit from a proposed Luas extension planned for 2009/2010 which will provide a station at the entrance to the shopping centre site.

Brendan Hickey from Davy Hickey Properties, said, “This latest development at Citywest represents a major investment for the local community. As Citywest Business Campus has grown and more companies have located here and created jobs, the area has seen considerable migration. The addition of Citywest Shopping Centre will serve the needs of this growing community and highlights our commitment to making Citywest a highly-attractive place to work and to live.”

Roy Deller,  Director of Proeprty Management at Savills Hamilton Osborne King, agents for the scheme, said “Citywest Shopping Centre has excellent infrastructure, road and transport links and a rapidly increasing local population. This new centre will provide all the necessary fashion and convenience shopping for people working, shopping and living in Citywest.  Citywest is now an excellent example of how mixed use schemes can work with the changing local environment and develop along with the local community. We only have a limited number of retail units available, such was the strong demand from retailers to locate to Citywest.”

Two of the most recent retailers signed to the scheme include, EBS Building Society and McDonagh Shoes.

Citywest Business Campus has been developed by Davy Hickey Properties and is now home to over 130 companies, many of which are global.
